I've been running into this strange problem for a while now and can't seem to nail the cause. Here are the symptoms: During a cold start my Alpine deck plays but the speakers short out. My setup includes custom speakers in the front & back all hooked up to an amp under the pass seat, which is in turn hooked up to the battery. Strange thing is that when I turn on the headlights or step on the breaks, the speakers work again. Even stranger is he fact that once the car has warmed up and driven for a while, the shorting goes away & the headlights are no longer needed. Also, when the ignition is turned to on, but the engine is not running, the unit works fine. I have already checked the deck, amp, and speakers for issues and everything is perfect, including the grounds. I also put electrical tape on all of the springs under the pass side seat to prevent shorting on the amp if contact is occurring. Nothing has helped. Now I'm running out of ideas as to what is causing this problem and figured I'd see if anyone has any ideas on where I should start looking. Thanks for any input.
